SUMMARY OF BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING
At its regular meeting of August 8, 2007, the Board of Education discussed/acted upon the following:
President Pierce administered the Oath of Office to Mr. Marvin Watson, who was appointed to fill the vacancy on the Board until April 2009.
Several students were recognized by the Board for their award-winning participation in the Philosophy Slam.
Adopted Consent Agenda for Agenda Items 7.A. (Minutes from regular meeting of July 11, 2007); Agenda Item 7.B. (Minutes from closed session held during regular meeting of July 11, 2007 which are to be retained as classified, subject to review under the law); Item 7.C. Destruction of closed session tape recording from the November 15, 2005 meeting; and Agenda Items 8.A. through 8.G. (Financial Reports)
Employed Valencia Tyler as a sixth grade teacher for 2007 - 2008
Employed Kari Brady as a kindergarten teacher for 2007 - 08
Accepted the Tentative FY08 District 93 Budget
Adopted the Legal Notice of Display and Public Hearing
Mr. Molby gave a preliminary report on District test scores
Mr. Molby gave the Board an overview of the Teacher Institutes to be held on August 23 and 24, 2007
Mr. Bogren gave an overview of summer school
Mr. Molby read the second reading for Revised Board Policy IFCA – Student Dress Standards and the Board adopted the revisions
Mr. Leisten updated the Board on the progress of current facility projects
