Lead Water Testing
Effective January 1, 2017, all public school districts must test the lead content of the
water in all schools serving preschool through fifth grade students that were built before
January 1, 1987. This testing must be done by December 31, 2017.
Hillside School District is charged with testing “sources of potable water.” Sources of
potable water include tap, faucet, drinking fountain, wash basin that is
in a classroom with students under first grade, and similar sources; however, bathroom
sinks and wash basins used by the janitorial staff are specifically excluded.
All of our water sources including tap, faucet, and drinking fountains in Hillside School
District 93 comply with the regulations outlined in the statue.
